In Espejito Espejito (Mirror Mirror), Susan Mézquita turns the mirror into a symbolic space where identity, memory, and belonging intersect. Through drawing, painting, and printmaking, she shapes a visual language in which the child and the adult woman coexist, each absorbed in a quiet dialogue with her own reflection.
 

Her mirrors—embellished with floral patterns, golden scrolls, or disrupted with barbed wire—speak to their historical presence as much as to the contemporary tensions of Caribbean urban life. Within these works, Mézquita examines her place as a person, an artist, and a woman, questioning how we see ourselves and how we construct who we become.
 

The series weaves together reflections and reflexions: each piece unfolds as a visual monologue where dreams, longings, and the migrant experience converge. Espejito Espejito becomes a meditation on identity and belonging in a world that never stands still.
